I love to observe and make paintings. My work is about the everyday world around me, ordinary objects that surround my existence. The subjects of my paintings range from things banal to extraordinary. My initial choices are usually aesthetic in nature and there is a desire on my part to share what I am seeing. The initial concept comes from a visceral response to the subject matter. Working in a strict figurative style, I spend hours trying to translate that initial response. I delight in naturalism and often get lost in the unending subtleties of what is seen. My art is a way to share the initial spark and the intense study afforded each subject.
